Flowers are large, opening from 23-30 cm across, the petals pure white inside but with a slight greenish tinge towards the base outside; the stamens with crimson anthers and pink filaments. In bud the flowers are sheathed in downy bracts which are a splendid golden-fawn colour. (cylindrica x veitchii Peter Veitch)
